Our Financial Controller will play a key role in building a scalable, data-led finance function from the ground up—enabling us to grow with speed and confidence while embedding automation and intelligence into everything we do.
Role Overview:
As Financial Controller at WeBuild-AI, you’ll drive our core finance function across management reporting, forecasting, payroll, cashflow, and compliance. You’ll be hands-on and proactive—comfortable building financial infrastructure and processes from scratch. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep accounting expertise with a builder mindset and a passion for designing future-facing, AI-enabled finance systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow planning.
Produce timely and insightful monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate, compliant execution.
Lead on HMRC returns and liaise with external auditors to manage year-end filings.
Build internal financial processes and controls that scale as the business grows.
Collaborate with leadership to align financial strategy with business objectives.
Support departments with cost modelling, resource planning, and financial insights.
Implement modern finance tooling with automation and AI-driven capabilities in mind.
Required Skills & Experience:
Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven post-qualification experience.
Experience working in a professional services or consulting company is essential.
Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role at a high-growth company.
Strong understanding of UK GAAP, HMRC regulations, and audit processes.
Track record of delivering cashflow planning, management accounts, and financial forecasting.
Comfortable being hands-on, building systems and processes from the ground up.
Interest in applying AI and automation to streamline finance operations.
Experience with tools like Xero, Excel/Google Sheets, and finance automation platforms.
Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to distill complexity into clear insights.
