Life at WeBuild-AI: meet Linda Joseph, fuelled by cups of tea to tackle designing data governance, LLMs, generative AI and more
What’s your role here at WeBuild-AI?
I’m a Lead Data & AI Consultant at WeBuild-AI. My main responsibilities involve leveraging my extensive experience in data science, AI, and large language models (LLMs) to design and deliver high-impact, production-grade solutions for our clients. A key focus area right now is leading the end-to-end development of a Chat Governance System for a leading European investment group. This includes everything from the high-level solution design and proof-of-concept (POC) to delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This work ensures that our advanced conversational and generative AI solutions are built on a foundation of security, compliance and responsible AI.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day is primarily structured around high-paced development and strategic collaboration.
It starts with our daily key project meeting, where the team discusses progress, identifies any blockers and aligns on immediate priorities for the day. The bulk of my day is spent in hands-on development, particularly coding the Chat Governance System, which involves working with Azure services like Azure ML, Azure Purview and other cloud components. I work closely with our talented Product Lead, AI engineers, Platform Engineers and Software Engineers.
Beyond development, I tackle tasks like designing architectures and working through complex problem-solving and cost estimations. My time is structured to allow for deep work in the afternoon, ensuring I have focused time to progress development milestones rapidly.
What’s your career journey been like so far?
My career journey is rooted in a deep passion for technology and its application to solve complex problems. I started my professional life as an Engineer at a leading global technology service and design company, gaining early exposure to big data tools and mastering Python scripting for automation and real-time monitoring.
Seeking to transition into the emerging field of data-driven solutions, I pursued a Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics. This formal education cemented my expertise in machine learning, deep learning and data analysis.
I then spent several years as a Data Scientist at a major European media and telecommunications company, where I refined my expertise in NLP, cloud technologies (AWS, GCP), data visualisation using Tableau and developing end-to-end machine learning pipelines. I was also part of the company’s Global AI Chapter, contributing to several AI proof-of-concept initiatives, including one of its most technically challenging and high-priority projects.
More recently, I've focused on the cutting-edge of AI, working on conversational AI and agentic AI systems. This journey, from foundational engineering to specialist Data Scientist, and now to a Lead Consultant role focused on complex, strategic AI implementation, has been a continuous growth in expertise, particularly in translating the newest AI research into reliable, high-value, enterprise solutions.
What do you enjoy the most about your job here?
What I enjoy most about WeBuild-AI is the vibrant office environment and the exceptional team. My colleagues are super talented, industry-best experts in AI and engineering, creating an environment where learning is constant and fast.
Talented Colleagues: The opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the best minds in AI and engineering is invaluable.
Variety and Fast Learning: We tackle a diverse range of complex problems and the company culture is geared towards solving problems fast, which translates directly into rapid professional and technical learning for everyone on the team.
High-Impact Work: I get to apply my expertise to build critical, foundational systems that directly address major enterprise challenges.
What’s a piece of code/work you’ve recently written that you’d be proud to show your past self, and why?
When I was first starting out in data science, I was primarily focused on complex data analysis on big data, model training and performance improvisation.
My past self would be deeply impressed that I'm now designing an entire system that wraps advanced LLMs and generative AI in a necessary layer of responsible AI and compliance. I’m using Azure Purview as the central data governance solution. My past self, who was just starting to learn about cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), would be amazed to see how I'm now leveraging a specific cloud governance tool to enforce data lineage, classification and access policies within a generative AI application.

Dark mode or light mode?
It's dark mode for coding and deep work, but it’s light mode for everything else.
How many languages do you speak (and which ones)?
Malayalam is my mother tongue, while English is the language of my education and professional career. I can read, write and understand Hindi, though when it comes to speaking, I mumble along like many other non-native speakers from different states in India! I also understand a bit of Tamil.
And of course, there are the technical languages essential to my role: Python is my primary language, mastered over 10 years for everything from data wrangling to engineering LLM workflows, plus SQL for analysing complex datasets.
Coffee or tea?
Definitely tea! I love starting my mornings slowly with a warm cup of tea - it’s my quiet time to gather my thoughts before diving into a fast-paced day of design discussions and development. That said, I can never resist a perfectly brewed South Indian filter coffee, a nostalgic favourite!
