Life at WeBuild-AI: meet Pranav Patel, Lead Consultant
What’s your role here at WeBuild-AI?
As a Lead Data & AI Consultant at WeBuild-AI, my role is fundamentally about connection. I serve as the lynchpin between clients, engineering teams, and stakeholders - bridging the gap between what businesses need and what our technical teams can deliver. This means translating business requirements into technical specifications, and ensuring all parties remain aligned throughout the delivery process.
It's a multifaceted role that requires depth across several domains. You need to understand business problems well enough to ask the right questions, possess sufficient technical knowledge to engage credibly with engineers, and have the communication skills to keep stakeholders aligned when complexity increases - which it inevitably does.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My days follow a structured rhythm. Mornings typically begin with key project meetings where we focus on progress, risks, and blockers. Early identification of potential issues is crucial, addressing challenges proactively rather than reactively makes all the difference in project delivery.
The remainder of my day alternates between two core areas. First, I work directly with business-facing clients to understand their processes, clarify their objectives, and identify opportunities where AI can create genuine transformation. Second, I collaborate with our engineering teams to refine product deliverables, ensuring what we're building aligns with both technical excellence and practical business value.
The most rewarding moments come when clients grasp the full potential of what's possible, or when engineers develop innovative solutions that exceed initial expectations.
What’s your career journey been like so far?
My path to AI consulting began with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in automotive simulations focused on optimizing vehicle performance. That work in performance optimization sparked my interest in machine learning and data-driven problem solving, leading me to transition into data science consulting.
That initial consulting experience gave me exposure to high-stakes, real-world applications of data science. However, I wanted to develop deeper expertise in data fundamentals, which led me to further focus on traditional data management challenges, data engineering and architecture, building the foundational knowledge that underpins effective AI implementation.
The emergence of generative AI represented a significant inflection point. We moved from building predictive models and optimizing processes to fundamentally reimagining workflows. At WeBuild-AI, I have the opportunity to work on both dimensions of this transformation: leveraging GenAI to enhance our internal project delivery, and helping clients identify and implement transformative use cases across their industries.
Looking back, each role built progressively on the previous one, expanding my perspective on how technology, data, and business challenges intersect.
What do you enjoy the most about your job here?
For anyone considering their next career move, the key question is always: what makes this organization genuinely different? For me, it comes down to three distinct factors.
Diversity of challenges. The range of problems we tackle is exceptional. One project might involve architecting a data solution for business reporting, while the next focuses on designing AI agents for an entirely different sector. This variety prevents stagnation and continuously pushes your skill set forward.
Tangible impact. We're building solutions that clients actively use and that meaningfully change how they operate. Our work translates directly into operational improvements and business transformation, not recommendations that gather dust on a shelf.
Depth of expertise. The team comprises genuine industry experts in AI, engineering, and architecture. When you encounter a complex challenge, you have access to deep technical knowledge and experience. This environment accelerates professional development significantly beyond what traditional learning methods can offer.
Quick fire
How many languages do you speak?
Gujarati, Hindi, English (most fluent). Some people have said my accent is Australian or South African though, and I am puzzled as much as you are.
Go-to playlist or genre for deep focus work?
For true deep focus you can't beat lo-fi.
What’s one thing people in work are surprised to learn about you personally?
I am an avid DIY-er when it comes to most things. Most recently in the past few months, I’ve installed a new wooden floor, closed off a fireplace and now I’m interested in joining some wood working classes.
